Doug Rose is Victory Christian Academy's Administrator and 8th grade science teacher.
Doug spent most of his early years in St. Francisville, IL and Carlyle, IL. He has lived in Columbia, IL since 1987. Doug was saved at the age of seven during a revival at his church where his father was the pastor.
Doug received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education, with a minor in Biology, from McKendree College in Lebanon, IL. Then, at the age of 43, he went back to school and received a Masters degree in Secondary Guidance Counseling from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO.
Doug taught 6th through 9th grade science and physical education for 22 years in the Lindbergh school district. During his first year of teaching he set his desk on fire during a lab activity. He said, "I was scared to death but the kids loved it!" During his teaching career Doug coached baseball, basketball, track, and golf. He also served as the director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Columbia High School. Before coming to Victory Doug spent 12 years as a guidance counselor at Columbia High School.
Doug and his wife, Linda, have been married 35 years. They attend First Baptist Church of Columbia, along with their two children and one granddaughter.
Doug's hobbies include fly fishing, playing tennis and basketball, and hanging out with his kids. He enjoys listening to Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, and "the old group known as Chicago." Some of his favorite movies are Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Caddy Shack, The Hunt for Red October, The Passion, and Fireproof. As of June 2009 Doug is one kidney lighter after giving one to his brother.
