Kindergarten Readiness
In order to succeed in our kindergarten curriculum, your child should be able to do (or have) the following before starting kindergarten:

  • Say the alphabet
  • Count to 20
  • Recognize the alphabet
  • Recognize the numbers 1-10
  • Recognize shapes
  • Know colors
  • Write his/her first name
  • Follow directions
  • Respect authority
  • Have a 20 minute attention span
  • Self-help skills (tie shoes, zip, button, use restroom independently)
Kindergarten Syllabus
In kindergarten, your child will be introduced to the following concepts:

Old Testament characters; the birth, life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Each child will be expected to memorize nearly 30 memory verses.

Skills Development
This includes character development, fine motor skills, listening and thinking skills, along with visual perception skills.

Learn the name and sound of all capital and lower case letters, sight words, one and two vowel rules, and special sounds.

Beginning in December the children will meet in reading groups according to ability; children will be graded on oral reading skills.

Learn the correct pre-cursive technique in forming all capital and lower case letters; will write phonics words, phrases, and sentences.

Seeds, Butterflies

Recognizing and writing numbers 1-100; skip counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s; money: value of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters; adding money; ordinal numbers: 1st through 10th; addition sums up to 10; subtracting 1, 0, and all of a number; calendar; telling time to the hour, half hour, and quarter hour; before, after, and between numbers; largest and smallest; measuring one inch.

Language Enrichment
Will memorize many poems and finger plays; opposites; rhyming words; comparisons.
